About Al

It was the spring of 2018, I was having my car serviced at a Nissan dealer.  I was feeling extremely low because my brother and best friend had passed away on February 14, 2018 from multiple myeloma  (blood cancer).  I had not been saved and could not understand why God would let my brother suffer for years from cancer after being a faithful servant and pastor for 43 years in southern Missouri.

While at Nissan a man approached me and started talking about Jesus Christ and said that it was not too late for me.  I had no idea who he was and why did he start talking to me.  I wanted to be polite and let him talk.  He said that he was told by the Holy Spirit that he needed to talk with me. He talked to me for about 20 to 30 minutes. Before he concluded his talk, he identified himself as Aaron Bernabe, and invited me to attend Freedom Church where he was the pastor.

The next Sunday I showed up and at Freedom church.  Aaron looked surprised to see me. That Sunday, the Alton church was visiting Freedom church.  When I sat down a man in a suit sat beside me.  He was studying intensely the material on his lap.  I jokingly told him that I hope the minister was good today because I had some tomatoes in case he wasn’t.  Just prior to the services starting, this man got up and went to the front of the church, he was the minister that day.  When he started talking he said that he had an extra incentive to deliver a good sermon because he didn’t want tomatoes thrown at him.  He did deliver a great sermon.

I kept coming to Freedom church for the church services on Sunday mornings and starting attending bible study on Wednesday evenings. In the mean time, I got to know Dennis and Maureen Peery as faithful followers of Christ.  In February of 2019, I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart. In September 2020, I was baptized by two pastors, Dennis Peery and Aaron Bernabe.

I got this glow in my heart when I accepted Jesus into my heart and it has gotten stronger as time goes on. My life as a christian is not easy; however, it is such a comfort to know that I am not alone because I know that the Holy Spirit is always with me. I am looking forward to seeing Jesus when I die.  I also want to see all my friends and loved ones with me in heaven. That is why I keep trying to spread the word of God.
